Silk Cocoon, a high-end retail boutique specializing in hand-woven silk products, celebrated 19 years of business success recently at its home in New World Makati Hotel. Silk Cocoon owner and president Jean Goulbourn collaborated with guest artist Charlie Co for a fund-raising exhibition for the benefit of the Natasha Goulbourn Foundation’s Hopeline project, a 24/7 emotional crisis line, for training responders for hospitals and volunteer parishes in Metro Manila and Cebu. Stepping into the boutique was like walking into a painting — the ceiling transformed into an evening sky littered with stars and the moon’s benevolent smile. Whimsy, color, vibrant energy, and good cheer abound. Charlie Co is known for being a chronicler, using his artworks as his visual diary in vibrant colors. At a chance meeting with Jean, the two artists melded and the concept for Silk Cocoon’s anniversary theme of love, hope and gratitude was born. Jean was all too happy to meet a whimsical artist that she could get inspiration from for her limited-edition menswear. With the helping hand of Jean’s sister Frances Lim, the boutique’s anniversary party was a resounding success.
