Redefining wellness in an urban landscape

MANILA, Philippines – The road to wellness is neither necessarily paved with visits to the doctor’s office nor is it as easy as taking daily vitamin supplements.

“It’s actually paved with the small decisions that we make every day. Our state of wellness is an indicator of how well we live our lives; or in the reverse, a wake-up call on what we should do differently. At the end of the day, wellness is a result of a deliberate effort,” shares Anton Sanchez, project development manager of Alveo Land.

With this in mind, Alveo Land, an Ayala Land company, redefines total wellness in the urban landscape by identifying the top five principles that every urbanite should follow in carving their own paths to wellness.

• Wellness is about variety. Experts say that one of the ways to help achieve balance in one’s life is to include variety. “The more variety you have in your life means zero boredom,” asserts Sanchez. Use your spare time to engage in different activities and interact with different people.

“Whether you want to pursue activities geared towards the body, mind or spirit, make sure that your home provides you the ease and opportunity to do so.”

• Wellness is not about numbers. “Many people want to know how many fat grams they should be eating or how they can lose 10 pounds,” quips Sanchez. But experts say that focusing on numbers may not be as important as looking at the bigger picture — how you feel about yourself. It is important to identify the real issues and to address them directly. It helps if there’s a place — say a tranquil garden or a prayer room — where you can think and connect with yourself.”

• Wellness is about pleasure. Wellness is about feeding your body, mind, and soul with things that you enjoy.

• Wellness is about living in the moment. Constantly focusing on the future or the past robs you of the opportunity to enjoy the present. Rather than focusing on what is negative or missing in your life, try to focus on the positive elements. “Sometimes, it’s as easy as walking outside your home to have dinner or watching a movie,” Sanchez explains.

• Wellness is about balance. “Wellness is a state of total well-being, encompassing the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of your life,” Sanchez relates.

He adds that there will always be different facets in a person’s life that make one or two aspects of wellness more difficult to achieve. “And this disconnection is exactly what we sought to resolve in The Red Oak at Two Serendra.”

Located in the burgeoning Bonifacio Global City, The Red Oak at Two Serendra brings the tranquility of suburbia within the convenience and heart of the fastest rising urban location.

The Red Oak is a sanctuary of wellness. In addition to being seamlessly connected to the metro’s prime business and lifestyle destinations, its amenities are soothing and conducive to pursuing activities that promote physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

The Red Oak’s sunken decks, massage pavilions, and leisure pools rejuvenate the tired body. There is also a music room and theatre room with a baby grand piano, good acoustics, and audio-visual facilities for wholesome entertainment. The room leads to a sound garden where one can listen to soothing music while admiring the beautiful landscape.

There are reflection ponds, tranquil gardens and a prayer room ideal for self-renewal. Those who seek spiritual wellness can make use of the yoga, pilates and dance studio. Residents can spend a quiet afternoon reading a good book at the Earth Lounge or Sky Lounge.

“The search for total wellness is no longer a luxury; it’s already a way of life,” Sanchez adds.
