A splash of life

What do playing under the pouring rain, swimming at the beach and lounging by the pool on a scorching summer day all have in common? Lots of water and a big smile on your face!

Treveia, the maiden development of Alveo Land in Nuvali, Ayala Land’s newest and biggest township development south of Metro Manila that advocates an eco-friendly lifestyle, recently hosted “Splash of Life,” a festivity that featured fun and exciting water-inspired activities reminding guests of the simple joys that water can bring.

“Through Splash of Life, we want to encourage people to look at preserving water and enjoying it in a different light,” says Eunice Acejo, head of Marketing Services Group. “We want them to see that saving the environment can be fun and enjoyable, too, in line with our efforts to mirror the eco-friendly values present at Treveia and Nuvali.”

To encourage appreciation for water management, Alveo hosted a tabletop fountain-making activity during the event where guests were able to use plants, stones and other decorative pieces to create their very own water fountain.

The concept of these water fountains represent Treveia’s own water conservation initiatives, like its double-piping system designed to conserve potable water by allowing the supply of non-potable recycled water to homes and amenities for irrigation and flushing, bio-swales that capture and channel rainwater runoff to the village’s own detention pond to further augment the reusable water supply, permeable paving along sidewalks that help reduce rainwater runoff and recharge the water table, the use of low-flow water fixtures in the amenities to naturally encourage water conservation, and the experience and efficiency of Ayala Property Management Corp. in other water conservation programs.

Another activity was Fish-a-Prize, where a makeshift pond was set up for guests to fish for special cards in exchange for prizes, such as SIGG Swiss eco-friendly water bottles and handmade recycled notebooks. “This is to show our guests and residents that conserving water has its rewards as well,” says Acejo.

Splash of Life also had a musical water harp, in which water was placed in eight glass cylinders at varying levels to create different sounds, accompanied by an interpretative dance performance that communicated the importance of water conservation. Face painting for kids and recycled art also completed the festive mood.

“Splash of Life is a celebration of water and the practical role it plays in our lives, and especially the emotional role it plays in giving us wonderful memories to treasure for a lifetime,” Acejo said.
