A birthday homecoming

A home-coming and a grand birthday party took place recently in Jaro, Iloilo, when the Lopez family and executives celebrated Don Eugenio Lopez Sr.’s 105th birthday. The late patriarch’s brood, including the fourth generation Lopezes, were present at the three-day festivity to pay homage to the celebrant’s legacy of love of country.

Apart from joyful gatherings, sightseeings and reunions, the Lopez family, headed by Lopez Group chairman Oscar Lopez, turned over four projects to Jaro residents. These projects include homes built in cooperation with Gawad Kalinga and educational materials and facilities to upgrade Iloilo schools.

Philippine Ambassador to Japan Domingo Siazon continues to organize very successful events to promote a deeper understanding and appreciation of Filipino culture to his Japanese friends and colleagues. The hardworking Ambassador Siazon held a week-long Philippine Food Festival at the Hilton Tokyo where two Cebuano chefs were flown in and Filipino singers serenaded the captive audience with well-loved Kundimans. It was truly a unique fiesta experience for our friends in Japan, thanks to the efforts of Ambassador Siazon! Congratulations!
