St. Luke's hosts 1st int'l pediatric confab

MANILA, Philippines -  World renowned experts in pediatric subspecialties will be in the Philippines for the first St. Luke’s international conference in pediatrics to be held on October 4-5 at the Henry Sy Sr. Auditorium of St. Luke’s Medical Center - Global City (SLMC-GC). The two-day conference is hosted by the St. Luke’s Institute of Pediatrics and Child Health of Quezon City and Global City. 

Entitled “Enhancing Pediatric Care with the Experts,” the conference gives participants the opportunity to hear lectures covering pediatric subspecialties such as cardiology, endocrinology, pulmonology, and neonatology. “These are the very popular subspecialties that pediatricians would be interested in and find useful in their practice,” says Dr. Maria Imelda Consunji Vinzon-Bautista, director of the SLMC-GC Institute of Pediatrics and Child Health.

Speaking are US experts Dr. Stephen M. Rosenthal, professor of pediatrics and director of pediatric endocrine-outpatient services at the University of California; Dr. Joel T. Hardin, associate professor of pediatrics and medicine and director of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the Loyola University Medical Center; Dr. Richard A. Polin, professor and vice chair, academic and clinical affairs of the Department of Pediatrics of Columbia University; Dr. Andrew R. Colin, professor of pediatrics and director of the Division of Pediatric Pulmonology at the Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami; and Dr. Micheal Rytting, associate professor of the Division of Pediatrics at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

“These are subspecialists who are expert researchers and also published authors in their field. Our participating pediatricians will expect to hear about the latest in terms of research, technology and the state-of-the-art way of treating patients,” Dr. Bautista adds.

CME credits are as follows: 20 units for Philippine Pediatrics Society (PPS), 10 units for Philippine Academy of Family Physicians (PAFP), and 40 units for Philippine Medical Association (PMA).
