The sweet and healthy life

MANILA, Philippines - It was a truly sweet and fun-filled day as Diabetasol, the dependable nutrition powder milk and zero calorie sweetener, which both help diabetics manage their sugar levels the delicious way, held its first big event, “ Be In Control with Diabetasol,” at the Activity Center of Market! Market! in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.

Suzette Wycoco, brand manager, talked about the benefits of taking Diabetasol for breakfast and snacks, emphasizing what Diabetasol can offer to all diabetic consumers. A medical nutrition therapy talk was given by the immediate past vice president of the Nutritionist Dietitians’ Association of the Philippines Felicidad Velandria, RND.

More than 4,000 availed themselves of the Healthcheck station services and fun-filled activities of brand partners. People lined up for the Diabetic Retinopathy check provided by Kalbe Vision.

The mid-afternoon was all about treating the audience to healthy gastronomic delights, courtesy of a cooking demo by renowned celebrity chef Tristan Encarnacion with host Winnie Cordero. Who would have thought that your favorite Diabetasol Vanilla can be mixed with Caesar salad dressing, so you can have both a healthy salad and your vitamin-filled Diabetasol nutrition powder in one delicious treat!

One of the event’s major highlights was the Culinary School Cook-Off, a cooking competition among students from some of the country’s top culinary schools. The students were tasked to come up with delectable beverage and yummy desserts using Diabetasol products. The audience learned that one could have a piece of sweet dessert and not feel guilty, thanks to the Diabetasol zero calorie sweetener. Topping the competition was Arellano University. The winning recipe entries included Diabetasol products as their ingredients, like a tasty drink called “Mama Mia” with fruits and Diabetasol zero calorie sweetener, and luscious desserts such as chocolate mousse, Cappuccino Ball, and Diabetasol’s Sweet Revenge.       

Also charming the crowds were Nicole Hyala, celebrity DJ from Love Radio 90.7 and singer Frenchy Dy who shared that having a family member who has diabetes made her realize that she too might acquire the condition, thus it inspired her to strive for a healthy lifestyle.
