What’s a typical working day for you?

I get out of bed around 5:30 a.m. for my morning workout. On Monday I’ll either do a tempo session or a long run to make up for a missed weekend. Tuesdays and Thursdays it’s a three-km swim or a 60- to 90-minute bike or bike-run. Fridays I run on the track. I’m dressed for work by 8:15 a.m. and at my office in Makati by 9.

How do you find the time to train given your busy schedule?

First of all, I analyze carefully what my circumstances are and what kind of time I can reasonably commit to training without other important things suffering. Then I set my goals around the constraints.

What do you love about triathlon?

Triathlon as a sport is amazingly complex yet elegantly simple at the same time.  I love it when I’m in training because it keeps me sharp — physically, mentally, and emotionally.

How do you unwind or relax after a busy week?

I go out for a long ride/long run first when the weekend comes. I might also go for a swim. I’ll also have a massage and spend quality time with my family.

What is your favorite workout, and what music do you listen to while doing it?

I love going on a solo long tempo run with just my iPod on where I adjust my pace according to the beat of the song. I love a lot of progressive house music when I’m working out — David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia, Axwell, and Avicii. I also like daft punk, LMFAO, Maroon5, Kings of Leon and WIll.I.Am.

Which model Yurbuds do you use?

I use the Pete Jacobs Signature Edition. The reflective cord helps me stay visible when I run early in the morning or at night.
