Hotel, resort GMs pledge to sell Cebu

The general managers of the different hotels and resorts of Cebu are entirely of a unique breed. Fully aware of the false negative perceptions that continue to plague our country and duly recognizing the urgent need to collectively draw up a comprehensive island-wide marketing and promotions plan, they immediately organized themselves into an association known as the Hotel and Resort GM Circle.

At a recent barrio fiesta held at the All-Stars Cafe of the Cebu Waterfront Hotel, in cooperation with the Hotel, Resort and Restaurant Association of Cebu, with members of the tourism sector, the tri-media and other various stake holders of the travel industry in attendance, they pledged their commitment, support and assistance to aggressively promote, market and sell Cebu as a primary tourist destination.

Cebu Waterfront Hotel general manager Patrick Gregorio expressed the group’s promise to uphold the efforts of Tourism Secretary Richard Gordon to invigorate travel to and around the Philippines.

"This can easily be achieved, if everyone present jointly work together by adopting the culture of tourism in their daily lives, from cleaning and beautifying their own surroundings to actually espousing a most welcoming attitude towards tourists and travelers," echoed Shangri-La’s Mactan Island Resort general manager Ben Bousnina

Salvador Cornelio, Cebu Plaza Hotel general manager and president of its owning company, Pathfinder Holdings, expressed hope that contributing to the cost of developing and implementing an honest-to-goodness achievable marketing plan would result in a more professional approach that would enhance business to tourism-oriented entities.

Cebu City Marriott Hotel general manager Christiane Wasfy was delighted to inform the guests that the organization would be distributing promotional materials on Cebu’s points of interest initially to neighboring Asian countries and perhaps later to other nations as well.

The affair ended with sincere pledges from everyone present to sell Cebu as a desired holiday and business destination.

Members of the GM Circle, please take a bow. Cebu, that’s the way to go. Viva Cebu!
