Cutex: Paint legacy on your nails

MANILA, Philippines - You know you have successfully penetrated your market when your name has become synonymous to what the people need: If they need stick-on notes, they think of 3M Post-its; if they need their files copied, they think of Xerox. And for women who want to have beautiful nails, they say “Cutex.”

At a time when women were going through the hassles of using paste, cake, or powder to color their nails, Cutex came up with a solution to make nails gorgeous looking.

“The Northrop Warren Company founded Cutex in 1911, first introducing a cuticle remover cream,” said John Parkinson, senior vice president international of Prestige Brands International. “Seeing the need of women to have an easier and better way to doll up their nails, the liquid nail polish was introduced in 1925 as an at-home solution for manicure care. Meanwhile, the nail polish remover was launched three years later.”

And women were quick to pick up this trend. Cutex’s popularity soared to fashionable heights after women saw celebrity dancer Irene Castle in a Cutex print ad in 1929. The same fashion icon who made bobbed haircut so chic set off another trend by showing off her beautifully-painted nails.

Even after a century, Cutex remains a relevant name in nail fashion. And now, the same brand that has revolutionized nail care is in the Philippines.

Going beyond the usual need for fashion and color, Cutex Nail Colors are products that are toxin-free, hence, are formulated free of dibutyl phthalate (DBP) (which can cause infertility, certain types of cancer); toluene (known as a human reproductive toxin); and formaldehyde (a carcinogen). Cutex keeps strong and healthy by having keratin in their products’ formulation. Keratin is a protein that protects and strengthens the nails.

Filipinas can paint their nails according to their every mood and fashion needs by choosing from a wide variety of shades, from moody blues to fiery reds.

As an introductory offer, Cutex is giving as much as 30-percent discount on selected items from May 13 to 31 in participating Watsons personal care outlets.
