This is the season for comebacks, says Michael Kors. First, he makes outerwear a fashion essential. For coats, sweaters and jackets, gold trim is used with heavy, exposed zippers, and wide and satin zipper tapes. Black patent glazed tapes are used for seaming and trimming, while leather, satin and cotton twill are seen as piping. Buttons are extra-large and come in enamel, gold, and silver. Domed and square studs are used as decor. Waist belts are in, and so are super-wide belts.
Fabrics have chintzed finishes and glazed coatings. Textures are playful with mixes of wool and double-faced cottons with an oil-like finish for that extra shine. Brocades are also big this season.
For a more feminine finish, there are ruffles, bows and soft tie detailing. The high-waisted pant is reintroduced, while denim looks new in a glazed black skinny jean. Also comeback-ing are soft, egg-shaped skirts that fall right at the knee and pencil-cut skirts below the knee.
Inspired by New York City circa the 1950s, Kors brings back smoky, sleek, and dark shades of black and gray coupled with cool tones of purple. There are florals, plaids in collarless swing-shape coats paired with pencil skirts, and turtlenecks tucked into skirts or pants.
In the Philippines, Michael Kors is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc. (SSI) and is located at The Power Plant Mall, Greenbelt 5, and Rustan’s Makati.
