The real fight

The heat is on and looking good is not only reserved for hot-blooded red-carpet balls. Like any tabloid-savvy fashionista worth her designer latte, we all love to see sordid photos of Britney or Jessica looking like &*(%$ when running their errands. In my deluded mind, I, of course, have now adopted the paparazzi fear (without the celebrity) and run my errands (whether it’s bringing my puppy Bruno to the vet or getting my soy milk at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf) in style.

Pinoys hate looking overdressed and I always have to ask why. In high school, people used to say, "Where’s the party?" (in very harsh, Lady Macbeth tones) when someone was decked out to the nines. Now, it is dressed-to-kill-and-thrill time. With the lifestyle landscape changing, even going to the gym is as crucial as going to the hottest charity event. I mean, do you really want your nemesis to see you in ratty and fatty-ass gym clothes? I don’t think so. And everyone and their mothers are doing this health thing in style.

So it’s here and I will spread the good news. You can look great in the gym wearing Stella McCartney at Adidas prices. With that jubilation I’m guessing you have burnt 400 calories!

Stella McCartney found her fame in her tailored but pricey pieces. Her stint as the head designer of Chloé catapulted her to fashion superstardom. Once just available in Europe and some parts of America, she has decided to park some of her gems in the Asia-Pacific this season. The Philippines is one of the lucky countries to be able to swathe itself in Stella’s rose and dove-gray glory.

Her product preview in Hong Kong boasted pieces of glory in sort of cyberspace Aeon Flux chic. Fully functional and highly fashionable, these threads of envy are said to fly off the shelves. The pieces are all made with fabrics treated with the Clima 365 technology that keeps the skin dry regardless of conditions or temperature. ClimaLite also keeps your body from overheating, ClimaProof Wind protects from wind gusts and X-Static conducts heat away from the body.

It is a marriage of sophistication, technology and yes, humor, as Stella injects her cheeky wit into every piece. Like the shoes that say, "I’m a winner" on the soles. The event showed us what McCartney and Adidas’ healthy lifestyle truly was. Stella being a vegetarian adores chic gourmet eats without the lungs and heart.

So we were treated to healthy fruit cocktails and the most terrific vegetarian canapes. We understood how the line put style and function together through high-tech fabrics and design. We also saw the clothes in action as models did some circuit training, yoga and even wall-climbing in Stella’s clothes. I, of course, thought of wearing them in some velvet-rope club. Dancing and macking are exercises, too, right?

So run now and get your Stella McCartney for Adidas wherever Adidas is sold.
