Going Mod, going Pop

It’s time to light up your wardrobe, and Jessica suggests stepping out in glamorous Mod Queen or hip Pop Fiction. The season celebrates the body, from trendy minis in lots of colors and styles, to classic pencil skirts. Pull on color tights with the mini or lace-up boots with cropped pants. Cover up with an ultra vogue bomber jacket, perhaps in fur or metallic leather for those Baguio nights.

Mod Queen launches the party season with glamorous black, pink, champagne and gold, traditional colors used in completely new ways. Holiday black comes in textures and layers with an ultimately feminine twist. The look is captured in sexy dresses that mix courtesy with floating panes of chiffon, lace with fringe hems. A cross between ’60 and ’80s styling, dresses are designed to highlight the most beautiful parts of the body with trapeze shapes, detachable shoulder scarves, lace-up back details, and well-placed diamantes. Stretch satin and stretch techno fabrics in black and golden tones create day-to-evening little jackets, pencil skirts, and slim fit trousers that are contoured to the body. Playing with the sleek silhouette, bomber jackets have made a big return. They appear here in metallic silver and gold lamb nappa, which also makes a versatile trench, to be worth with sexy dresses. Metallics offer essential accent points, and also shine thrugh in gold-toned satins, beaded tops, metal rivets and chain belts. Skins are important too, and can be found in coats, faux fur jackets, animal print bomber jackets, and shawls. To add the finishing touch, accessories with sheer or opaque hosiery and head out the door!

Pop Fiction captures the updated urban look and proportions of the season with a nod to space age designs from the Sixties. A palette of dusty pastel tones plays with chalky whites and neutrals like oatmeal, taupe, and camel. The silhouette focuses on boxy tops paired with slim bottoms, as in cuddly-soft wool flannel short jackets and cropped pants. Minis appear in various forms, and funnel necks are key. Luscious holiday fabrics also include double – sided cashmere in orange/pink and green/mustard combinations, made into a knee length coat. Beyond the play with color, design elements such as big buttons, buckles and zippers have an outdoors fell and tone down Fall’s emphasis on sportswear. Other fluffy Holiday fabrics include high/low stripe corduroys in colors like sherbert pink and orange, a metallic chenille, and a pig suede. Subtle pattern is woven into pastel tapestry jacquard, metallic royal jacquard and leaf jacquard, charming as hip mini skirts and straight-leg trousers. Sweaters take on techno applications, such as cardigan made of heavy gage yarn with techno fabric panels that play matte against shine. Textured chunky merino, tweed merino and brushed wool offer volume, while sequined bring fun to the collection.

Holiday coating wraps us in sumptuous cashmere blends as well as angora mixes, both offering lightweight but warm cover-ups in chic cuts. Even more luxurious, fox is the new favorite fur, worn roomy and short, but never long. Mix and match and slip easily from a work day to a night of dancing!
