MANILA, Philippines — Filipino-American content creator and model Bretman Rock was honored by the Hawaii House of Representatives, particularly the Filipino Caucus, for their impact on Hawaii residents and Filipino-Americans.
State representative Darius Kila, in recognizing Bretman, said the content creator "touched the lives of countless individuals across Hawaii and beyond, inspiring us all to embrace our uniqueness, and celebrate our individuality."
The Cagayan-born and Hawaii-based Bretman posted images on their Instagram documenting the recognition, sharing their gratitude in the caption.
"I never thought this would ever happen, I was just an Ewa Beach boy twerking behind the manupua truck, giving MTV crib tours of my highschool and singing my boba song everywhere," said Bretman.
Bretman also thanked Darius for allowing them to "live their First Lady fantasy," adding their time with the Filipino Caucus as "so fun and so brown." Bretman said it even felt like a queen when a whole lechon (roast suckling pig) was served for lunch.
"Please know that wherever you go in the world, you have a community of supporters who are cheering you on every step of the way," Darius said in his own Instagram post.
