Super typhoon outside PAR being monitored

MANILA, Philippines — A super typhoon, with the international name In-fa, is being monitored outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said yesterday.
Based on the latest PAGASA weather satellite update, In-fa was last located at 2,560 kilometers east of Northern Luzon. It was packing winds of 185 kms per hour with gusts of 230 kph while moving west-northwestward at 35 kph.
State meteorologists are not ruling out the possibility of the super typhoon entering PAR in the coming days.
Based on the tropical cyclone threat potential forecast until Nov. 5, In-fa is expected to enter the northeastern boundary of PAR, but with no anticipated direct impact on the country.
Should it enter PAR, it will be given the local name Samuel, the 19th tropical cyclone in the country this year.
However, the low-pressure area inside PAR will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in Visayas, Mindanao and Palawan.
It was last located 485 kms east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar, but still has an “unlikely” chance to develop into a tropical cyclone.
Meanwhile, cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms will be felt in Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora and Quezon due to a shear line.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will be felt in the Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region and the rest of Cagayan Valley due to the northeast monsoon.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.
