MANILA, Philippines —  In response to a spate of bomb scares and other security threats targeting schools, the Philippine National Police (PNP) is reviewing its response protocols to secure campuses.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. ordered the review, which he said is focused on ensuring protocols and operational capabilities remain responsive to changing threats.

The Adamson University implemented precautionary measures yesterday due to security threat.

“Following security inspection conducted by police, classes and work will continue,” Adamson said on Facebook.

On Tuesday, the University of Santo Tomas, Emilio Aguinaldo College and De La Salle University in Manila were hit by bomb threats.

In Calamba City, Laguna, a threat posted on Facebook targeted students of Punta Integrated School on Tuesday.

A Facebook user, known only as Harry, posted on a chat group threatening boy scouts in the school. A probe is ongoing to unmask the person’s true identity.

Nartatez said every threat targeting schools must be treated with urgency and investigated thoroughly to establish the identities of the perpetrators and hold them accountable for disrupting classes
