Team Manila-Philippines kampeon sa World Series
MANILA, Philippines — Pinulbos ng Team Manila-Philippines ang Texas Pride Elite Team ng host Rio Grande Valley region, 8-1, para pagreynahan ang 2026 Pony International World Series 18-Under Girls Softball Championships sa McAllen Softball Complex sa McAllen City, Texas.
Inimbitahan ang Big City Softbelles, nagkampeon noong 2023 at 2024 Pony World Series at isang Major Awardee sa 2023 Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Awards, sa torneo ng Pony International World Series bilang kinatawan ng Asia Pacific Region.
Sumalang sa event ang mga pinakamahuhusay na softball teams mula sa iba’t ibang states at cities sa US, kabilang ang host Texas, Mexico, Guatemala, Bahamas at Puerto Rico.
“We are very proud of the Team’s accomplishments, the reason why we try our best to support the further advancement of these ‘world class’ youth athletes who come from poor families in the provinces with a promise of free college education from reputable universities in Manila,” ani Team Manila Softball President at Manila Councilor Rafael “Che” Borromeo.
Dalawang paaralan sa Texas ang nagkaroon ng interes sa ilang miyembro ng Team Manila-Philippines na sinuportahan ni Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso at ng International Terminal Container Services Inc. (ICTSI), San Miguel Corporation (SMC) at Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) na pinamumunuan ni chairman Patrick Gregorio.
