Tolentino nanguna sa Olympic Day celebration
MANILA, Philippines — Pinamunuan ni Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino ang pagdiriwang ng Olympic Day sa buong mundo kahapon sa Tagaytay CT Velodrome.
Higit sa 500 batang estudyante mula sa tatlong Tagaytay City schools ang nakasama ni Tolentino sa loob ng world-class velodrome.
Lumahok sila sa boxing, basketball, football, baseball, taekwondo at wrestling clinics na pinamahalaan ng mga national sports association officials at coaches.
“This is a very important date in the Olympic Movement as we celebrate this day when Olympism and the Olympic Games were founded in 1894,” wika ni Tolentino. “It’s a day of fun and sports as we join the whole world in celebrating this day.”
Layunin ng selebrasyon na maiiwas ang mga bata sa paggamit ng gadgets at makadisbure ng mga bagong talento na maaaring tumarget ng Olympic gold medals.
Nakiisa sa mga clinics sina Tokyo Olympics boxing silver medalist Carlo Paalam at Paris 2024 bronze medalist Aira Villegas at Gilas Pilipinas legend Larry Fonacier sa iba pang mga coaches.
Naging bahagi rin ng event sina Marcus Manalo (boxing), Ali Sulit (wrestling), Ricky Lim (karatedo), Atty. Wharton Chan (billiards), Alvin Aguilar (wrestling), vice president Manny de Castro (baseball) at secretary-general Rocky Samson (taekwondo).
