Coco Martin explains why upcoming series with Julia Montes got delayed
MANILA, Philippines — Coco Martin explained why the upcoming series "Sigabo" with Julia Montes did not air right after "Batang Quiapo" as announced earlier.
The real-life couple was the guest of a brand that launched its campaign, where they entertained a few questions from the press.
“Kung medyo na-delay nang konti, nung nakita po namin siya, sabi nga namin, para ba kaming may reason pala kung bakit nahinto kami nang konti,” Coco said.
Coco said the delay was more of an artistic and wellness-related decision. Since he was just then wrapping up "Batang Quiapo" last March, he took the opportunity to recharge and take a rest from taping a new series that would air right after his last one ended.
He also took time to look through the new material and see where he could improve "Sigabo," the comeback of CocoJul as main couple in the show. CocoJul is the collective term for his and Julia's love team pairing.
“Kundi para makapagpahinga, makapag-recharge at mas mabusisi namin 'yung proyekto. At ngayong ine-edit na namin at nakita ko na po lahat ng mga kinunan namin, sobra akong haping-happy at sobra akong proud na proud.
“Kasi sinigurado po ng buong team, lalo po ng ABS-CBN, na mas pinaganda pa namin siya kumpara sa 'Probinsiyano' at sa 'Batang Quiapo.'
“Kaya talaga pong 'yung ine-expect po ng mga tao, ibibigay po namin 'yun. Deserved ng lahat ng mga Pilipino na kung ano man yung paghihintay na naranasan nila after 'Batang Quiapo,' eto po, sinisigurado po namin na magugustuhan ng lahat ng mga Pilipino.
“Na makapagbibigay ng saya at inspirasyon sa lahat ng mga tahanan.”
"Sigabo" was scheduled to air on March 16 but it did not push through.
Coco and Julia also talked about being the "perfect pair" on- and off-camera.
“Kasi ngayon, sa buhay talaga natin, kaming dalawa talaga, nagtutulungan, e. Para tuparin 'yung mga pangarap namin, mga small business namin. Tapos ngayon, magkasama kami sa 'Sigabo.'
“At every time na kung ano man 'yung mga experiences ko na pinagdadaanan sa araw-araw sa aking buhay, sa trabaho ko, hindi ko lang maikukuwento sa kanya pag-uwi ko ng bahay kung hindi makakasama ko na siya kung nasaan man ako.
“And then, para sa akin, sobrang blessed po namin. Dahil talagang nagdidire-diretso 'yung mga blessing na dumarating sa buhay namin.”
