Storm Ramil leaves 7 dead, 2 missing, 133,0000 affected

MANILA, Philippines — Seven people were reported dead following the onslaught of Tropical Storm Ramil (international name: Fengshan).
The fatalities included two females and five males, while one individual was reported injured and two remain missing, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) in its report on Monday, October 20.
The agency also tallied 37,825 families, or 133,196 individuals, were affected by the storm across nine provinces and 35 cities and municipalities.
At least 13,710 people were displaced, with 7,511 individuals staying in 166 evacuation centers and 6,199 sheltering elsewhere.
Flooding hit 48 areas across four regions: Central Luzon, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, and Eastern Visayas. One city or municipality has declared a state of calamity.
Roads, bridges and ports. The storm also disrupted key infrastructure, with 12 road sections and 10 bridge sections affected.
Around 77% remain impassable, while the rest are open to one-lane traffic.
At sea, 60 seaports were affected, leaving 4,178 passengers, 1,433 rolling cargoes, 13 vessels and 26 motorboats stranded.
Two ports have since resumed operations, while about 3% are now fully functional, the NDRRMC said.
Government response. The government has so far released P2.08 million in assistance to affected families. Of this amount, P17,560 was allotted to support local government units and regional agencies responding to the storm.
Ramil exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Monday morning, leaving behind widespread flooding in parts of Luzon and Visayas after several days of torrential rain and strong winds.
