Capiz vlogger drowns while crossing creek amid 'Ramil' rains

MANILA, Philippines — A 23-year-old vlogger and school canteen worker drowned while crossing a creek amid heavy rains in Barangay Malocloc Sur, Ivisan, Capiz, on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 18.
Local officials identified the victim as Mae Urdelas, who was on her way home with her brother and brother-in-law when she slipped and fell into a river in Sitio Bagaas around 5 p.m., according to Barangay Captain Allan Delos Santos.
Urdelas was then swept away by the strong current.
Her body was found about one kilometer downstream nearly three hours later, following a search operation by residents and local authorities.
Before the incident, Urdelas had posted on Facebook about the heavy rains brought by Tropical Storm Ramil (international name: Fengshan), which affected parts of Luzon and the Visayas over the weekend.
As of 1 p.m. Sunday, October 19, PAGASA said Ramil’s center was in the vicinity of Olongapo City, Zambales, packing winds of 65 kph and gusts of up to 90 kph while moving west-northwest at 15 kph.
