DOH logs 418 road crashes during holidays

MANILA, Philippines — Road traffic accidents this holiday season continue to rise, according to the Department of Health.

The DOH recorded 418 road traffic accidents from Dec. 22 to 29.

Of the number, 68 were reported yesterday.

Motorcycles were involved in most of the cases.

Based on DOH data, 291 motorcycles were involved, while 70 cases were people driving under the influence of alcohol.

No safety accessories were found in the vehicles of 356 cases.

The public has been advised to always wear helmets when riding motorcycles, follow prescribed speed limits and avoid driving when drunk.
