MANILA, Philippines — AdventEnergy Inc., the retail electricity supply arm of Aboitiz Power Corp., is spending as much as P1.8 billion next year to further beef up its portfolio.

“We already have around 50-60 megawatts (MW) in the pipeline that we want to build by next year,” AboitizPower first vice president and head of retail James Yu said in a recent interview.

Yu said these projects are the deals signed by AdventEnergy this year, the majority of which are solar power systems and hybrid solar-battery energy storage projects.

“So it takes us around six to 12 months to deliver a project,” he said.

AdventEnergy offers customized energy solutions to meet the specific power needs of its clients. These projects include ground-mounted and rooftop solar facilities for residential, commercial and industrial use.

“A lot of these projects will continue to deliver electricity to our customers for the next 20 years, with some lasting even longer, between 20 and 25 years,” Yu said.

In the short term, AdventEnergy wants to deploy up to 60 MW of distributed energy projects annually, with the possibility to further scale up.

“If more customers want to work with us, we will not limit ourselves with this. We’re really trying to grow this business. And hopefully, our target is at least 50 to 60 MW per year,” he said.

To fuel its growth moving forward, the company is counting on the growing optimism that more banks are willing to finance renewable energy projects.

According to Yu, customers should take advantage of this opportunity to help them transition from conventional power sources to clean energy systems within their own facilities.

AboitizPower vice president for retail energy sales and solutions Gina Lyn David-Camacho said retail electricity suppliers like AdventEnergy play a crucial role in achieving energy efficiency among industries.

“We recognize that business continuity and energy efficiency solutions are important aspects that Philippine businesses should prioritize,” Camacho said.

AdventEnergy’s hybrid energy solutions, she said, ensure compliance with energy laws and regulations while safeguarding sensitive equipment and maintaining critical operations even during periods of instability.

“Stability is one of the key things we are helping establishments and key industries in the country achieve. We reassess their energy consumption to ensure optimal operations for the remaining year and better planning for the next,” Camacho said.

To date, AdventEnergy has equipped more than 500 facilities across the country with reliable and sustainable energy solutions.

Its largest client is the SM Group of the Sy family, which has contracted around 150 MW of capacity for its malls and other real estate developments.
