JBC endorses 8 nominees for SC associate justice

MANILA, Philippines — The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) endorsed on Friday to the Office of the President eight nominees for a Supreme Court (SC) associate justice post and three nominees for the Deputy Ombudsman for the Visayas post.

A tweet from the SC official Twitter account identified the eight nominees for SC associate justice as Michael Aguinaldo, Apolinario Bruselas Jr., Amparo Cabotaje-Tang, Ramon Cruz, Geraldine Faith Econg, Antonio Kho Jr., Maria Filomena Singh and Raul Villanueva.

The JBC said that an associate justice post will be left vacant in the SC as Associate Justice Rosmari Carandang is set to retire on Jan. 9, 2022.

In a separate tweet, the three nominees for Deputy Ombudsman for the Visayas Office of the Ombudsman were identified as Beda Epres, Ma. Rowena Amelia Guanzon and Dante Flores Vargas, who will be vying for the post left vacant by Hon. Paul Elmer Clemente whose term ended on Nov. 6, 2021.
