LPA off Catanduanes expected to develop into tropical depression

MANILA, Philippines — A brewing storm 875 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes is expected to develop into a tropical depression and to be given the local name “Hanna,” state weather forecasters said Saturday.

In an 11 a.m. advisory, the government’s weather bureau said the low pressure area may turn into a tropical depression within 24 to 36 hours.

Meanwhile, monsoon rains will be experienced in Metro Manila and provinces of Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Antique, Guimaras and northern portion of Negros Occidental. 

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of Luzon and Visayas. — Ian Nicolas Cigaral
