MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Office of the Court Administrator to expedite the processing of applications of gun permit for judges, PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said yesterday.

Albayalde said the MOA was signed during the national summit of judges in Tagaytay City from Wednesday to Friday where he was a guest.

“We have added provisions for faster issuance of license to own and possess firearm, and for them to be obtain permit to carry firearm outside of residence,” Albayalde said in an interview over dzBB.

Included in the agreement is the establishment of more caravans near the judges’ offices to ensure faster processing of their applications, Albayalde said.

“We held a caravan at the summit of judges so that they wouldn’t have to go to Camp Crame to process their applications,” said Albayalde.

Albayalde told around 600 judges during the summit that the PNP is ensuring their safety and protection, following the murder of Ozamiz City Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Edmundo Pintac on Oct. 8.

The judges may also apply for a security detail from the PNP Police Security and Protection Group, Albayalde said.
