Patricia Lourdes Viray - Philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines — A defeated senatorial candidate filed a motion before the Senate electoral tribunal (SET) on Tuesday to subpoena the citizenship documents of Sen. Grace Poe.

According to a radio report, Rizalito David asked the SET to subpoena Poe's record of application of citizenship and related documents including her record of travels from the National Statistics Office and the Bureau of Immigration.

David earlier filed a disqualification case against Poe, citing that her she is not qualified for the office since she is not a natural-born citizen of the Philippines.

The complainant said that he is willing to take the case against Poe all the way to the Supreme Court.

The senator currently tops the latest presidential and vice presidential polls but has not yet decided on her plans for the 2016 national elections.
