BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – Three motorcycle-riding men gunned down a radio broadcaster on his way home in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur yesterday.
Michael Diaz Milo, 34, national supervisor of PRIME Radio FM, was riding a motorcycle when he was attacked upon reaching Purok Palmera in Barangay Mabua.
Milo hosted the public affairs program Doc Alternatibo.
Another broadcaster, Joas Dignos, a block-time commentator at dxGT Radyo Abante, was shot dead in Valencia City, Bukidnon on Nov. 29.
A report by the Tandag City police to the Region 13 police headquarters said one of the three men shot Milo at close range in the head. The gunmen fled immediately as Milo fell to the ground.
Milo was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Police officers failed to find any cartridge at the crime scene and were looking for more evidence.
A follow-up investigation showed Milo had received death threats but he supposedly disregarded them.
However, his relatives said the broadcaster had sought police assistance but was allegedly ignored.
The Surigao del Sur police formed a special investigation task group to handle the case.
