Slain ad exec’s kin cry for justice

MANILA, Philippines - Kristelle “Kae” Davantes, the advertising executive who was found brutally murdered in Silang, Cavite, will be buried on Sunday at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque.

The Facebook page “Justice for Kae” also said the funeral mass would be held at Mary Immaculate Church in Moonwalk Village, Las Piñas.

The Facebook page had 61,555 likes as of yesterday. It contains prayers and messages for Davantes.

“You have chosen to take our Kae away from us. We may not fully understand why but we know it’s for a deeper purpose. Help the authorities to be vigilant to our cause and persevere. Help the people who are now with us to continue to be with us till we find justice for Kae,” a post reads.

Davantes’ relatives are hoping for the immediate resolution of the killing of the 25-year-old senior account manager of McCann Worldgroup Philippines MRM and marketing officer of the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines.

Investigators, meanwhile, are hoping to get leads from the autopsy results.

Inspector Valero Bueno, lead investigator on the Davantes case, said the autopsy is being conducted by the Philippine National Police-Crime Laboratory in Tagaytay.

“We are still waiting for the result of the autopsy. We are hoping to find something that would lead us to her attackers,” Bueno said.

He admitted investigators had no significant information from the interviews with Davantes’ co-workers that could lead to the solution of the crime.

NBI to conduct parallel probe

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), meanwhile, will conduct a parallel probe into the death of Davantes.

NBI deputy director for regional operations Virgilio Mendez yesterday said Justice Secretary Leila de Lima gave the directive on Tuesday.

“We are here to help in the investigation. Maybe we can gather some evidence that could help solve the case,” Mendez said.

The investigation will be headed by NBI-National Capital Region director Efren Meneses. – With Aie Balagtas See, Ed Amoroso
