Jack Enrile joins party-mates in second leg of campaign

IBA, ZAMBALES, Philippines – Cagayan Rep. Jack Enrile joined his fellow senatorial aspirants under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) and the party stalwarts for the second leg of the election campaign.

Enrile is expected to drumbeat his own advocacy on food sovereignty. He filed House Bill 4626 or the “Food for the Filipinos First Bill,” which he envisioned to provide a mandatory path to rice self-sufficiency and food security for the whole country.

The bill is expected to help increase agricultural production and income for farmers, and lower food prices.

“Given the right legislation and the correct infrastructure and the proper funding and subsidy, our country could well be on its way to food sovereignty. Our agricultural sector, especially here in Central Luzon, has all the potential to achieve, if not exceed, target production on a yearly and consistent basis,” he said.
