MANILA, Philippines - Filipino-Canadian YouTube sensation Maria Aragon got a pat on the back from no less than Vice President Jejomar Binay for bringing yet another honor to the Filipino people.
Binay praised Aragon when she paid a courtesy call on him recently in his office at the Coconut Palace in the CCP complex, Pasay City.
“You have brought immense pride to the Filipino people with your wonderful talent, and I congratulate you for having gone this far and getting the worldwide recognition you deserve,” he said.
The Vice President told Aragon that she has been an inspiration to the youth and famous artists all over the world.
“I believe you have inspired not only the youth to work toward achieving their dreams, but also famous artists to continue to excel in their art and to keep making music. To be touching the lives of people all over the world is an outstanding feat at such a young age. I know you will continue to make us proud,” Binay said.
The Fil-Canadian YouTube star thanked Binay for his support.
Aragon became an instant hit on YouTube after she was praised by pop sensation Lady Gaga as “the future” of music.
It was Aragon’s first visit to the Philippines.
