MANILA, Philippines - United Opposition standard-bearer former President Joseph Estrada would have a greater year in 2010, according to his campaign manager.
Former ambassador Ernesto Maceda said Estrada has received good fortune in 2009.
“2009 has been a very good year for President Estrada,” he said.
“He has been showered with so many blessings and reaped success in many of his endeavors. I’m very sure he will be even more blessed in 2010, especially since he has never wavered from his goal of serving the poor.”
Maceda said foremost among the blessings that Estrada received in 2009 was his continued good health.
“His knees are now as good as new,” he said.
“Not once did he get sick during the year. This means nothing stands in the way of President Estrada’s pursuit of his many objectives next year, including the resumption of his Lakbay Pasasalamat thanksgiving visits to many more places around the country where the clamor for his presence is deafening.”
Maceda said Estrada’s thanksgiving visits even extended to the Middle East, following a trip the United Arab Emirates last June as special guest of the Filipino community for the 2009 Philippine Independence Day celebrations.
“President Estrada made more than 60 visits this year, renewing his ties with millions of Filipinos who never wavered in their support for him,” he said. – Jose Rodel Clapano
