Weather expected to improve in next few days

Filipinos can expect improved weather conditions in the next few days as no tropical cyclones are expected to develop within and outside the Philippine area of responsibility, the government weather bureau said yesterday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), however, said widespread rains are expected over Southern Luzon, due to enhanced southwest monsoon, which may trigger flashfloods and landslides.

Pagasa said Luzon and Visayas will continue to experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers while the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Senior weather specialist Robert Sawi said no weather disturbance is expected to develop within and outside the country in the next few days.

He said typhoon “Bebeng” left the country yesterday morning.

As of 10 a.m. yesterday, the eye of typhoon Bebeng was spotted 820 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes or in the vicinity of Okinawa, Southern Japan.

Bebeng has maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour and gustiness of 210 kph. It was moving north at 19 kph.  – Helen Flores
