RMAF to launch books to inspire the young

The Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation (RMAF) is set to launch this August books aimed to inspire younger generations to become future leaders of their countries.

The "Great Men and Women of Asia," a nine-volume book which will be launched on Aug. 29, contains stories of 15 Ramon Magsaysay laureates.

"These were stories of ordinary individuals whose extraordinary lives have made Asia a better place," the RMAF said.

The "Young Pens for Young Minds," is a collection of essays from the winning entries in the Ramon Magsaysay Student Essay Competition.

These are stories written by young writers from high schools, colleges and universities across the Philippines and three from South Korea.

The essays "reflect on the inspiring lives and work of Asia’s moral heroes."

The RMAF said the books will inform the Asian youth on the life and work of previous awardees of "Asia’s premiere prize."

Meanwhile, in line with the RMAF’s preparation for the centennial birth anniversary of President Ramon Magsaysay next year, the foundation will be launching a film series entitled "My Guy Redux."

These are video compact discs that contain short documentaries on the life of Magsaysay.

This will be their way to "re-introduce Ramon Magsaysay to generations who have not been privileged to know him and his dynamic leadership," the RMAF said. — Helen Flores
