Ramos off to KL for economic summit

Former President Fidel Ramos left yesterday for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to address and participate in the Third Asia Economic Summit (3rd AES) organized by the Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute.

The 3rd AES will be attended more than 200 top government and business leaders, economists, researchers and academics from the Asia-Pacific region. The summit will explore the theme "Asia on the Move: Enhancing Competitiveness, Expanding Opportunities" and more particularly will assess global and regional economic trends; evaluate policy shifts and their impact on Asia’s prosperity and stability; address issues on the management of Asia’s political and security risks; and look into India’s role as Asia’s new powerhouse.

A free-ranging discussion is expected to take place at the 3rd AES on the challenges posed by the proliferation of free trade agreements among different sub-regions and countries in the region.
