MANILA, Philippines — If there was something MAMAMOO did not forget to bring back to the Philippines for their reunion concert, it was the vocal masterclass that has long cemented their reputation as K-pop’s vocal queens.

Three years after their last full-group show in Manila, MAMAMOO’s Solar, Moonbyul, Wheein and Hwasa reunited with their Filipino fans, fondly called MooMoos, for their “4WARD” tour, mounted by Wilbros Live on last Aug. 8 at the Araneta Coliseum. The quartet treated Filo MooMoo to a setlist of hits that once again flaunted their sonic brilliance and undeniable command of the stage.

Even the audience’s seats took the spotlight when Solar and Moonbyul made a surprise entrance in the middle of the crowd to deliver their intro lines for Mr. Ambiguous.

Dressed in sleek black, the K-pop sirens wasted no time taking over the Big Dome, as the cheers grew even louder during their performances of Egotistic and Décalcomanie.

“Kumusta kayo?” Solar, the group’s leader, personally asked the crowd. “It’s been three years since we’ve met the MooMoos here in Manila. Ngayon lang kami nakabalik, pero maraming salamat at hindi n’yo kami kinalimutan at bumalik din kayo para sa amin,” she conveyed further through an interpreter.

For MAMAMOO, this world tour, named after their comeback album, symbolized their desire to keep moving forward alongside their MooMoos — a reassuring reminder that despite being under different agencies and keeping busy with their solo activities, the bond between them has remained strong over the past 12 years.'

Conveying a sense of longing through melody, the group crooned the R&B ballad I Miss You, effortlessly soaring through its high notes.

They switched up the mood with the dance-pop and Latin-inspired track Starry Night, trading the ballad’s emotional pull for a brighter energy before taking the fun up another notch with the trot version of Taller Than You, where they showed off their playful sides while clad in glittering suits.

“Masaya ba kayo?” Solar asked, eliciting a resounding response from the fans before saying, “Salamat!”

“During the soundcheck, we already felt this into our bones, ramdam na ramdam namin ang energy ng Manila MooMoos,” the main vocalist added as they got further energized by the passionate spirit of Pinoy MooMoos, whose cheers echoed throughout the venue, accompanied by the thunderous stomping of their feet.

“Whenever we hear these stomps from your feet, it feels so good. Ingatan po natin ang mga tuhod natin,” Solar joked before the group proceeded to highlight a lineup of their B-sides in a medley of Aze Gag, Waggy, New York, Freakin Shoes and Baton Touch in their matchy denim fits.

The fun continued as the members took turns owning the stage with their respective solo performances. Hwasa vibed with the crowd during So Cute, while Wheein’s soulful side unraveled with The Symphony of Fxxkboys. Moonbyul turned the venue into a party with Hertz, while Solar brought the house down with Blues, leaving fans in awe of her powerful vocal range.

As the show moved into its latter half, the girls, dressed in all-white, treated fans to a live performance of their new single, 4 Flowers, before making the moment even more memorable with the hits AYA and HIP.

“’Yung mga Manila MooMoos natin talagang sobra-sobra kayong passionate na nag-enjoy, kaya hindi namin ‘to makakalimutan. The best kayo, MooMoo!” Solar exclaimed.

Despite the heavy rain on concert day, Filipino MooMoos did not let the downpour stop them from showing up for MAMAMOO. Among their heartfelt fan projects was a surprise cake, which prompted shocked reactions from the members as they pulled off the topper and discovered photos that brought back memories of their journey.

“Salamat sa pagpunta!” a grateful Wheein told the fans.

Moonbyul, in turn, also expressed her appreciation to MooMoos by saying, “Despite the weather, thank you so much for coming today.”

Savoring the final moments of the concert, MAMAMOO roamed around the stage and bowed their heads in gratitude after singing You’re the Best. But the encore was not quite over, as fans chanted, “Isa pa!” In response, the girls happily obliged and performed Yes I Am before finally exiting the stage.

“It’s been three years since we last visited Manila, pero parang mas lumakas ‘yung init ninyo ngayon. We sincerely thank you for creating such wonderful and precious memories with us,” Solar said in their final message.

Following the successful Manila show, MAMAMOO will bring their tour to seven US stops this month.
