How Paolo Contis learned to ‘fix problems privately’

All is well between Paolo Contis and his ex-wife, Lian Paz, as well as their children, Xonia and Xalene.
Last Mother’s Day, he greeted his mother and the mothers of his children during an interview at a Netflix event for “The Master Cutter,” held days before the special day for moms.
“First of all, to my mom, I would like to greet her a Happy Mother’s Day. I will be with her definitely and of course sa mga ina ng aking mga anak, Happy Mother’s Day. You’ve been a great mom, of course, and anything that I wanna say I’ll message you. Hahaha!”
The actor also has one daughter with former partner LJ Reyes, Summer.
Paolo shared that he regularly communicates with his daughters with Lian.
“It’s fixed already with Lian, John (Cabahug, husband of Lian) and me,” he stated. “Kumbaga ito yung literal na past is past. So now, we’re moving forward, we’re friends. I regularly talk to my kids and I regularly see them.
“At least hangga’t kaya, kung kaya once a month or twice. Siyempre, it’s not cheap kasi ibang (city) siya (Cebu)… Busy ka rin. Kailangan palipat-lipat. So hangga’t kayang lumipad, pupunta. But the communication is there. I always talked to them. Kumbaga it’s great co-parenting.”
Lian and former cager and businessman John, along with their children, are currently based in Cebu.
Paolo said that he and Lian have really worked hard on their co-parenting arrangement. “Like what I said, naging OK ang trabaho nung hindi ako nag-kwento sa inyong lahat. So now, I’m telling it to you guys because everything is OK… So the same manner with other problems, that’s what I’m gonna do. Fix it privately.”
In the GMA Prime series “The Master Cutter,” now streaming on Netflix, Paolo portrays the villain Red, the nemesis of Dingdong Dantes’ character, Atoy.
Helmed by Dominic Zapata, “The Master Cutter” is set in Baclaran and tells the story of a former scout ranger who now lives a double life (Dingdong) — working quietly as a tailor by day while taking on dangerous bounty-hunting jobs on the side.
It also stars Sienna Stevens, Max Collins, Shuvee Etrata, Jo Berry and Charlie Fleming. It premiered on Netflix 72 hours before it aired on free TV and is also available in other Southeast Asian countries. It also airs weeknights at 8:15 on GMA Prime and via Kapuso Stream and GMA Play.
Paolo told The STAR that the series is packed with action sequences for his character and the most dangerous stunt he did was throwing someone into the ring.
“It’s gonna be wild, there are car chases, lahat, gunfights, fistfights, saksakan. We’ve already done seven action scenes. This is different because Action 360 (film and TV stunts team) is very particular with the action scenes. Iba. It’s the first time that we actually did na ganung klaseng action. We spent almost the whole day just for a scene.”
“Binato ko sa ring. I can’t tell (yet) why I did it but totoong nangyari hindi siya, walang harness walang ano. I picked him up and threw him far. That was a big scene,” he added, referring to the most perilous stunt he did.
Paolo was nonetheless ecstatic that a global audience would get to see “The Master Cutter” through the streaming platform.
“I think it’s about time… I’m very happy that we’ve started this already. Nasasayangan lang ako sa ibang nagawa natin (in the past), para sa akin, na ang gaga-ganda (that should have been shown). I was hoping na makita rin siya ng Southeast Asia or hopefully the whole world,” he expressed.
