Jameson Blake on why he clicks with Barbie Forteza
Jameson will join Elijah Canlas, River Joseph and Anton Vinzon at the announcement of the second batch of official film entries for the 51st Metro Manila Film Festival this December. The event is happening tomorrow, Oct. 10, 2 p.m. at the University of Makati Performing Arts Theater.
Jameson Blake is finally giving fans a peek into what’s really going on between him and Barbie Forteza.
“We’re enjoying each other's company. What's really important is that you know, we're both happy, kapag kasama (when we’re together),” the “Isla Babuyan” and “Kontrabida Academy” star said when asked about his real score with the Kapuso star during an interview.
Even with fans spotting them out and about, Jameson admitted to The STAR, “Wala rin kaming magagawa eh. People see us outside but you know, we don't want to... I mean we're of age now. We're not kids anymore. So what they see is what you get, you know?”
When asked to address, once and for all, the question on whether they’re exclusively dating, the Kapamilya actor said, “Basically, we just enjoy each other's company.”
On perceptions by fans who feel that they are already a couple, he reacted, “Feeling nila?”
Asked by this paper if Barbie is “girlfriend material,” he was quick to counter, “Not only,” drawing teasing from the media interviewing him as he appeared to agree with the comment that the actress was “wife material” instead.
At any rate, despite keeping things between them low-key so far, he has noticed fans’ support online and expressed his appreciation.
“Surprisingly (there are supporters)… I’m not really that active on TikTok but I’m happy. I’ve been seeing their comments… very supportive and cute naman.”
Is there a possibility of more onscreen projects together after they starred as love interests in the hit Netflix film, “Kontrabida Academy,” directed by Chris Martinez?
Jameson shared, “Right now, so far, wala, yun lang muna. I would say that's a good start, you know, ‘Kontrabida Academy.’ If there’s another in the future, I'm open naman. That's been my path ever since in showbiz, working with different actresses and so okay lang naman sa akin.”
When told that fans wish to see them together, on or off screen, and that they appreciate how he doesn’t mind being seen with Barbie or asked about her, he said, “Of course, everybody thinks differently.”
“Everybody has their own perspectives naman. So ako naman, personally, it’s nice to see that people have comments like that,” he added.
“You know, it’s positive naman. I'm not going to let that slide. I appreciate it that they praise us somehow or they look at it in a positive way. Na parang ang gaan ng aura, I appreciate it.”
So why do Jameson and Barbie click aside from their shared love for running?
He explained to The STAR, “Maybe we're both… Ahm, how do you say this? I mean, she's an actress and I’m an actor. It’s like the same path and career… But I guess, I would have to say, we have the same priorities in life.
“I think that's what makes us connect well and other than the… we just understand each other very well.
“Malaking bagay kasi sa akin na someone that's really understanding. Parang ganun. I would say she really has the qualities of a good woman.”
Jameson confirmed that Barbie has met his mom, and vice-versa. “Not naman close…of course, it’s part of the process talaga,” he said.
