I still remember how annoying Ryza Cenon was as the mistress, Georgia, in the drama series “Ika-6 na Utos” which aired for almost two years on GMA.

I became hooked on that drama series because I was always eager to see what would happen next in the love triangle among Emma, Rome and Georgia. Sunshine Dizon played Emma, the devoted wife of Gabby Concepcion’s unfaithful Rome.

Ryza likened her portrayal of her character to going through different seasons.

“It was like the weather for me. There was beauty, there was joy. There was sunshine, there was storm, there was rainbow. May mga ganoong feeling po habang ginagawa siya. It means it was tough to do,” said Ryza during her recent guesting on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.”

The actress also found every scene unpredictable. “You cannot say, ‘I’m happy’ or ‘I’m sad’ in the next scene. Biglang magugulat ka na lang ‘pag nandoon ka na, ‘Ah, ito pala ‘yung weather ngayon.’”

However, “Ika-6 na Utos” was her last TV acting project with GMA. Ryza has decided to leave the Kapuso network in 2018.

“I told them that I wanted to explore. Gusto kong lumaki pa po, lumawak ‘yung mundo ko. Gusto ko pong gumawa ng pelikula. Gusto ko pa pong makakilala, makatrabaho pa po ng ibang artista,” she explained.

Contrary to rumors, Ryza made a point to personally speak with Kapuso bosses before she left. “Nagpaalam po ako ng maayos. Umakyat po ako sa itaas. Inisa-isa ko po sila para magpaalam at magpasalamat.”

Ryza admitted that she initially sought some advice before finally deciding to transfer to another network. As the breadwinner, she needed to be financially stable. “S’yempre, ako po, tao lang din po ako. May pangangailangan din po ako. Breadwinner din po ako. So, kailangan ko rin pong kumita. So, isa rin po ‘yun sa rason.”

Some people were upset with her decision, while others criticized her move. But Ryza kept her silence. She chose to ignore them because they didn’t know the whole story. Despite everything, Ryza has no regrets about her decision, knowing that things are falling into place. “Like now, the networks that were competing then are collaborating now. So, there’s healing, there’s still hope for us. So, bakit kailangang pagsisihan ang isang bagay na p’wede naman pong balikan din.”

Ryza shared the good news that she received an invitation to appear on the GMA action-drama “Sanggang-Dikit FR,” starring real-life couple Jennylyn Mercado and Dennis Trillo. She also mentioned that she and Jennylyn have already patched things up after the rift they had early in their acting careers.

The actress admitted feeling nervous visiting her former network during her guest appearance on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” her first TV appearance on the Kapuso

channel in nearly seven years.

Ryza started her acting career on the same TV station after winning GMA’s “StarStruck Season 2” as the Ultimate Female Survivor. She credits fate for her involvement in the show. It was her cousin, whom she accompanied to the auditions, who was dead set on entering show business.

“Hindi po siya pwede kasi 16 years old pa lang siya that time. I ended up auditioning since we were already there in line, sayang daw po ‘yung punta kasi pasok naman ‘yung age ko.”

Fast forward to the present, Ryza not only busies herself with acting but also with being a mom to her and partner Miguel Cruz’s four-year-old son, Night.

Many are interested to see her return to character roles on GMA Network, where she began to dream big, believe in her talent and survive challenges.
