Teacher Georcelle won’t stop until dancers reach the highest level
Teacher Georcelle, the visionary behind GForce, plans to expand her brand via a dance studio targeting office workers. It is a trend now to take dancing more seriously. She says, ‘That is my dream for dance artistry to be recognized and accepted by the society, and that it can also make a difference in this world.’

Finding one’s passion became easy for celebrity choreographer and dancer Teacher Georcelle Dapat-Sy, and conversing with her at the GForce dance studio in Quezon City taught us many things beyond dancing.

We had the opportunity to sit down with Teacher Georcelle and spend an afternoon with her recently to hear her thoughts about dancers and dancing as a profession. Listening to her talk about how she continues to elevate the dancing industry was just so enlightening and made one forget that being an artist doesn’t mean you have to be starving.

With GForce turning almost two decades in a year and having changed the lives of thousands of aspiring dancers, she posed the question, “Why can’t we embrace dancing as a career? That’s why a lot of movers and body smart people out there are getting sad because malamang hindi nasusuportahan.”

With this, she plans to expand her brand via a dance studio targeting office workers. It is just timely, as it is a trend now to take dancing more seriously. She shared, “That is my dream for dance artistry to be recognized and accepted by the society, and that it can also make a difference in this world.”

Teacher Georcelle also credits her husband Angel for making all her dreams possible in the dancing community. “I would say I am the visionary but he’s the one who takes care of the business. Ako yung aura! He is the one taking care of the operations.”

Angel is the reason that Teacher Georcelle could continue to be a mother to the dancing community. She said, “G-Force is more than just dance! It’s about character building and self-discovery. You come to our classes looking for that sense of belonging and come out having that sense of becoming.”

With this, GForce is again opening its summer workshop just yet in June and July using the hashtag #MovingForwardWithAl.

For Teacher Georcelle, it is something we have to embrace but also accept that some movements cannot just be replaced with technology.

“We know that Al is a game changer,” G-Force artistic director Georcelle Dapat-Sy said. “As performers, where do we position ourselves? How do we co-exist with Al? How will it help and at the same time affect us?”

The G-Force Project gathers all of its classes for a culminating future ready dance performance to be held on July 7 and 28 at The Theatre at Solaire.
