Star Magic warns against ‘PBB’ scammers
MANILA, Philippines — The “Pinoy Big Brother” house will once again open its doors to a new batch of aspiring housemates.
ABS-CBN previously announced that the reality show will be returning for a brand-new season in June. The search for new housemates will begin on April 27 and 28.
The Kapamilya talent management arm, Star Magic, recently cautioned the public against scammers claiming to be part of the reality show and asking aspiring housemates to audition.
“We ask the public to be vigilant against scammers claiming to be part of ‘PBB’ and asking aspiring housemates to audition. The unauthorized use of the ‘PBB’ brand or any false representation as an employee of the show is punishable by law. We will keep you posted through the official social media accounts of Pinoy Big Brother,” the Star Magic statement read.
Former housemate and previous “big winner” Melai Cantiveros, who is also one of the hosts for the latest season, reiterated this warning to “PBB” hopefuls.
“Mag-ingat kayo sa audition ng ‘PBB’ dahil pwedeng mag-audition kayo sa hindi legit na staff,” Melai was quoted as saying in a report.
Melai also offered a piece of advice to all prospective housemates of Kuya’s House, saying: “Life is short. It’s important that you enjoy what you’re doing. So when you audition, (ask yourself) do you really want it?
“Or baka inutusan ka lang ng papa mo na mag-join? So kailangan mo talagang gustuhin ‘yung ginagawa mo at sinasabi sa ‘yo. Kasi kung hindi mo gusto ‘yon, hindi mo mapapagtagumpayan,” she added.
It’s worth noting that Melai also began her journey as a PBB housemate when she was crowned the “big winner” of “Pinoy Big Brother: Double Up” back in 2010, the same season she met her husband Jason Francisco, who was her co-housemate at the time.
Her fellow hosts are Robi Domingo, Bianca Gonzalez, Kim Chiu, and Enchong Dee.
