NSYNC is back with a new single titled Better Place. The group is intact, meaning all of the original members are present and still in heartthrob mode. Justin Timberlake, Chris Kirkpatrick, JC Chasez, Lance Bass and Joey Fatone.
As the level rises on the enthusiastic market reaction to the boy band’s new release, it has become obvious that these guys are as hot as ever. That is although, they had not been NSYNC together for over two decades.
Better Place, composed by Timberlake, his co-producer Shellback and Amy Allen is a song from the soundtrack of Trolls: Band Together. Timberlake, the most successful former NSYNC, is executive producer of the Troll franchise. Aside from that, he voices the overly careful pessimistic character Branch.
Timberlake had a big hit with the tune Can’t Stop the Feeling from the movie Trolls in 2015 and he was even nominated for an Academy Award. So, being in charge of Trolls music again, it is very likely that he was the one who thought of bringing NSYNC back for Better Place. Brilliant idea.
Why not? Fans had been clamoring for an NSYNC reunion for many years. That it finally happened, even if only with a single, is something for them to be happy about. Who knows these guys might get the NSYNC itch big time with Better Place and might just decide to do an album and even tour?
NSYNC is one of the biggest-selling boy bands of all time. Think 70 million records sold and still counting. Think hit songs It’s Gonna Be Me, Bye Bye Bye, I Want You Back, Tearin’ Up My Heart, This I Promise You, Girlfriend, Pop, Gone and others. Their album No Strings Attached made history by selling one million copies in one day.
NSYNC went into hiatus in 2002 when Timberlake decide to try his luck as a solo artist. No, he said then, he was not quitting the group. He was just going solo for a while. But then, Rock Your Body, Cry Me a River, Sexyback and other hits happened and then Social Network, In Time, Friends with Benefits and other movie roles came along. And that for a while became 23 years.
But no matter. NSYNC is back and gearing up for a big hit. Better Place is a nice happy tune with Timberlake in his usual lead vocals spiced once in a while by Chasez beautiful tones and by everybody in the chorus. Enjoy all you boy band fans.
And while we are on the subject of NSYNC, I would like to brings back memories of great boy bands. I would say that the greatest of them all are the Beatles. But no. I do not know how that classification came to be but boy bands in pop music parlance are groups wherein the members do not play musical instruments.
Very strange. Because when you say band, the impression is usually a group where the members play musical instruments. Think marching bands or an orchestra. But not in the case of boy bands whose members only need to sing and dance and look cute all the time.
Anyway, here’s my list of those boy bands who did those duties very well and while doing so, sold a lot of records.

Backstreet Boys from 1993. I Want It That Way, As Long As You Love Me.

NSYNC, 1998, Bye Bye Bye, This I Promise You.
