Kyline and Mavy are a picture of young love

The camera loves them.

Kyline Alcantara and Mavy Legaspi look good together, regardless of angle. When they smile, their dimples show and they radiate an amiable aura. Their actions, banters and talks reveal a genuine connection between them. These are some of the reasons why their love team works and keeps on gaining new followers.

Yes, Kyline and Mavy are a picture of a true friendship, young love, and a thriving career in showbiz. Their work in the recently-concluded I Left My Heart in Sorsogon validates all that. Fans, however, yearn for seeing Kyline and Mavy beyond their characters Tiff and Basti, described as feisty city girl and charming probinsyano, respectively.

Fret no more because the onscreen partnership of MavLine, the Kapuso stars’ uniname, has been named as among the five Sparkle Sweethearts by GMA 7’s talent management arm, Sparkle. It means more exciting projects are in the pipeline for Kyline and Mavy.

Also joining them in this category are Sofia Pablo and Allen Ansay; Althea Ablan and Bruce Roeland; Shayne Sava and Abdul Raman; and Zonia Mejia and Jamir Zabarte.

“Personally, I’m very, very excited ‘cause Kyline and I are coming from a very, very great show, I Left My Heart in Sorsogon,” said Mavy of this new development in his and Kyline’s TV careers in a brief chat with The Philippine STAR. “I’m very excited (about) the plans that Sparkle GMA Artist Center has for MavLine. I really can’t wait to get started for future projects.”

As delightfully expected, Kyline also shared the same thought with Mavy by saying that “I’m just really, really excited and sana po maging successful. For sure, it’ll be successful because me and Mav, will work very, very hard (and) of course, with the help of GMA, and Mr. M and Ms. Mariole.” Johnny “Mr. M” Manahan and Mariole Alberto are GMA consultants to the development and careers of Kapuso network’s artists. With the former’s reputation as a star maker, Kyline and Mavy are in good hands.

A quick look-back on the tandem informs one that Kyline has shown her talent in drama by taking on the roles of Cheska in Kambal, Karibal, Anna and Elsa in Inagaw Na Bituin, and Maggie in Bilangin Ang Bituin Sa Langit, based on the information given to media.

Mavy, on the other hand, comes from a family of actors, whose parents Carmina Villarroel and Zoren Legaspi have a multi-genre TV and movie body of work. His twin sister, Cassy, is part of First Lady, the book two of First Yaya. Aside from acting, Mavy is also into modeling, hosting and performing.

After their screen-and-acting test as a love team in the Heart Evangelista-Richard Yap-led romantic-comedy series, what TV series genre MavLine would like to see themselves into in the future?

“Me and Mav are really flexible, sa kahit na anong genre,” said she. “But I hope, dahil nanggaling ang mom and dad ni Mav (ay sa) drama side, sana po sa drama. But we’re really flexible kahit anuman po ang ibigay po sa amin (whatever is given to us, we will gladly take on it). For sure, it’s a blessing and for sure, paghihirapan namin ni Mav yun.”

Mavy was also on the same page with Kyline. “I definitely agree (with her),” said he. “Ang pinaka-importante sa amin ni Kai (is) we’re always talking about, you know, kung ano yung goals, dreams namin, kung anong klaseng shows, or genre na gusto naming isabak, but with that, I really wanna do drama.”

The young actor and showbiz royalty reiterated that this was something he already brought up to Kyline and his parents, “Gusto ko nang mag-drama. I feel like yun, nagawa din namin kasi sa workshop, medyo pa-drama na yun. As for Kyline, she’s very experienced and she’s very talented when it comes to drama. Lahat naman ng genre kaya naman ni Kyline, but people really know her for her skills in drama. With her, being my loveteam partner, I really definitely want to work with Kyline in that genre.”

So, drama is it for Kyline and Mavy. Hopefully, it will come to fruition in their next TV assignment. That wish is a product of their constant collaboration and communication about their work.

“Yes, there’s never a day that we never bring up a topic about our careers,” Mavy gave everyone a sneak peek into his and her daily conversations. “We always want to improve kasi, both Kyline and I, and of course, showcase something very different and at the same time, you know also enjoy it, enjoy the ride, enjoy every moment, enjoy every step. It’s not always about anong mangyayari next or the pressure is coming on to us. It’s just us, we’re trying to explore our different crafts or talents and trying to improve each day.”

That’s why one could sense that Mavy and Kyline are enthusiastic to see where their tandem will be heading to from here on. “I trust her fully with my career and my heart,” said he. “My family knows that. So, every time I’m in good hands with Kyline and I know that I’m in good hands with myself since I know naman what I want also.”

As for Kyline, she said that “we really plan things ahead, but as much as possible, we wanted to be authentic and we wanted to be genuine and kumbaga walang scripted kami na gagawin, kasi gusto namin talagang maramdaman ng mga tao kung ano talaga kami on- and off-cam, especially off-cam. So, yeah, napag-uusapan po namin and we have a lot of deep talks and planning ahead, planning the future ganyan. Nakaka-enjoy po (I am enjoying it).”

Kyline and Mavy stand on what they have beautifully started in their first series together and are ready to foray into being named as Sparkle Sweethearts with it.

“Sobrang laking tulong po talaga, as in wala ng ilangan,” said she of their already established working rapport and relationship. “There’s no ice to break anymore… Sobrang laking tulong lang talaga nung foundation namin, yung strong foundation namin… sobrang ganda talaga nung foundation namin na friends kami and then eventually, nakitaan kami ng network ng potential maging love team. I’m just really thankful for that. It’s a new start, it’s a new journey, sana po talaga na ma-enjoy namin ito ni Mavy.”

This results to their onscreen chemistry that thrills fans, who also religiously follow every photo or video the Sparkle artists upload on their social media accounts. It works wonders on their work as well.

“I feel like that can translate ‘pag dating sa professional side namin,” said he, “‘pag dating sa acting, siyempre ‘pag dating sa mga fans namin, they can see na napaka-genuine nung binibigay namin.”

The recent announcement of Kyline and Mavy as part of the five Sparkle Sweethearts also followed the presentation of Gabbi Garcia, Ysabel Ortega, Sanya Lopez, Ruru Madrid, Derrick Monasterio, Khalil Ramos, Miguel Tanfelix and Bianca Umali as Sparkle’s Next Brightest Stars last month. It only shows that the entertainment side of GMA remains vibrant.
