Benedict Cua shares Something Beautiful with listeners

MANILA, Philippines — Benedict Cua, the voice behind ‘Di Namalayan, has recently dropped a new single, Something Beautiful. It somehow captures his present state of mind that one could also wish for others to have. There’s something about the tune that makes listeners smell the roses, feel the love, and appreciate people in their lives.

“I’m at this point in my life where I’m just thankful for everything,” said Benedict in a virtual group interview for the renewal of his contract with PolyEast Records and again, the release of Something Beautiful, “parang hindi na ako nag-de-demand. When I pray, I no longer demand for this and for that. I’m just thankful for what I have right now. I just want to tell everyone that no matter how small you think your milestone is, you can still create something beautiful out of it.”

As for his creative process in this musical endeavor, Benedict found a collaborator in fellow PolyEast artist Izzeah and requested for the lyrics to focus “more on the connection with people, more on feelings (and on) something abstract,” he shared, than superficial lines that speak about physical beauty, which is fleeting. “(An abstract concept like love) is what makes us feel so good, the genuine connection, dun ako parang naka-resonate (that’s where I can resonate with the song), more on the relationship.”

Benedict recalled that his ideas served as a guide on how the lyrics would be crafted and Izzeah incorporated them in the song.

“Before wala na akong tiwala sa (romantic) love,” he said about his personal connection with Something Beautiful. “There comes a point in your life when you tell yourself this: ‘Maybe (I will give it) just one more (try).’” And the act of taking a chance unexpectedly gives one something beautiful and more.

“Dun po ako sobrang nakaka-relate, napagdaanan ko po talaga yun. Very personal po yung lyrics (It’s something about the song that I can really relate to because I’ve also gone through that. The lyrics are very personal).”

Something Beautiful, composed by Izzeah, will definitely appeal to listeners as it narrates “about a refreshing start of a much deeper relationship with the person you cherish the most,” according to the information provided by PolyEast. It touches on the capacity of people to love and see someone’s flaws as something beautiful.

Among the blessings that Benedict has received and feels grateful for is having found a family in his record label.

“Whenever I’m in PolyEast, I feel like I’m their little baby, alagang-alaga nila ako,” said Benedict, adding that the record label believes in his talent to create “something beautiful and they continuously encourage me to push my limits.”

During the media conference, Benedict also shared about the difference between recording Something Beautiful and ‘Di Namalayan. “I had more time to practice continuously,” he said. “Before, we had a targeted deadline.” It’s safe to say that his team had the luxury of time to prepare well, and the result is Something Beautiful.

Benedict also had a coach to supervise his singing and tell him whether he was hitting the right notes or not. The vocal output is pleasing and soothing to the ear.
