Dante Rivero: Idol of the ’70s

Dante Rivero was rightly billed the Idol of the ‘70s.

Women adored his mestizo good looks, acting ability and fashion sense. Off-cam, Dante is Louisito Ramos Mayor, the son of US Navyman Louis Mayer and Paciencia Ramos.

Dante is the favorite leading man of Susan Roces, Amalia Fuentes, Pilar Pilapil, Boots Anson-Roa, Liza Lorena, Hilda Koronel, Rosemarie Sonora.

He was the prized actor of Lea, which cast him in Wanted: Perfect Mother, Santiago, Villa Miranda, Lupang Hinirang, Cherry Blossoms, Cadena de Amor, Crush Ko Si Sir, Gold Bikini, Magic Makinilya, Ang Gangster at Ang Birhen, Leslie, Andrea, among others.

Outside Lea, Dante starred in Kung Bakit May Tinik ang mga Rosas, Natutulog Pa Ang Diyos, Kadenang Rosas, Dalaga, Kapitana Ester.

Dante is still very much around, doing mostly father and supporting roles on television and cinema.

He was recently honored by the Philippine Movie Press Club with a Lifetime Achievement Award. — RKC
