WATCH: Boyzone honors Stephen Gately at Manila concert
MANILA, Philippines — Internationally-acclaimed boyband Boyzone gave a heartfelt tribute to their late member, Stephen Gately, during their farewell tour in Manila held at Mall of Asia Arena recently.
Speaking with the audience, member Keith Duffy said he and the rest of Boyzone knows Stephen “is always with them.”
Keith also shared a supernatural experience with their former Boyzone “brother.”
“Stephen always loves butterflies. When we did our first tour after we lost Stephen, we’re in the middle of our rehearsals. We were all a bit of sad because it was new into us to work together without Stephen. And one day, in the middle of the rehearsals, this butterfly just flew through the rehearsal door and we kind just felt that was Stephen, that he’s with us, that he’s still with us and showing some sign to tell us that he’s still with us,” Keith told their Manila crowd.
He also told the audience that upon singing their hit song “Baby Can I Hold You” during the concert, a butterfly crossed the stage.
“We just sat there singing ‘Baby Can I Hold You,’ then a butterfly flew across the stage. So we know Stephen is in the house tonight. He is with us.”
Boyzone then dedicated the last two songs of their Manila-leg tour to their dearly departed member.
