Manila’s 2017 sold out ‘Kinky Boots’ returns

MANILA, Philippines (As released) — Following a successful (and sold out!) run in 2017, Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group is thrilled to announce a limited repeat run of “Kinky Boots,” the Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical that has taken Manila by storm. 

Due to an overwhelming demand for more tickets, the show is set to open once again in March. It will feature the same beloved cast lead Nyoy Volante as Lola and Laurence Mossman as Charlie Price, and many more of the faces that made the musical the hit that it was last July. With Director Bobby Garcia at the helm of “Kinky Boots” once again, it is sure to wow the audiences with its familiar charm and enduring lesson that speaks to the core of families and found-families alike – one of acceptance and inclusion.

With sold out performances from its opening weekend, it quickly garnered everyone’s attention – with critics urging audiences to experience the spectacle that it is, and fans revelling in their seats. The show swept headlines all around, with the Philippine Star referring to it as “Perky, funny, alive... and much more!” Theaterfansmanila dubbing it as “the best show the year has to offer!” and ABS-CBN claiming it’s “impossible not to be awestruck!”

Written by Harvey Fierstein, “Kinky Boots” tells the story of Charlie, the son of a shoemaker who reluctantly takes up his father’s factory after his death, and Lola, a drag queen who’s fuelled by her passion for shoes. The duo tries to save the factory from bankruptcy, and they eventually find themselves part of an uncanny bond that forms between their two worlds. Together they learn what it means to be each other’s friend despite their differences. The story comes alive with pop icon Cyndi Lauper’s music and lyrics, and is sure to sweep everyone off their feet.
