Celebrities react to Mocha Uson’s ‘Mayon in Naga’ mistake
MANILA, Philippines — When Mocha Uson mistakenly said on Facebook Live that the erupting Mayon Volcano in Albay is in Naga City, she unleashed a pandemonium of mixed reactions on social media.
Celebrities like Lea Salonga, Ethel Booba, and Enchong Dee are among those who expressed their views on the Presidential Communications Operations Office Assistant Secretary’s boo-boo. Netizens also flooded different social media sites with memes about Mayon and Mocha.
In the Facebook Live video, Mocha said people are bringing up the issue regarding her award given by the University of Santo Tomas Alumni Association for the people to silence the issues on Dengvaxia; Sen. Franklin Drilon’s Napoles connection; and the Mayon Volcano in “Naga.”
“Ginagamit po ng ilang mga tao itong maliit na issue sa award para pagtakpan’ yung issue ng Dengvaxia, issue ng pagtanggap diumano ni Senator Drilon ng pera galing kay Napoles, at yung pinakamahalaga pa yung nangyayari sa Naga, ‘yang pag-aalburuto ng Mayon volcano,” she said in a Facebook video.
As a reaction to the video, Lea Salongga wrote on her Twitter account: “With all due respect, we can’t change geography. That is all.”

The international singer, meanwhile, lauded Mocha for admitting her mistake. According to Lea: “It takes humility to admit fault, and I laud anyone able to do that, no matter how big or small the mistake.”

Sexy comedian Ethel Booba, on the other hand, posted as a reaction to Mocha’s video: “Sa sobrang gulo ng Pilipinas ‘yung mga lupain natin naglilipatan na. Spratlys lumipat na sa China sunod ‘yung Bulkang Mayon pumunta na sa Naga. Charot!”

Mocha’s former group, Mocha Girls, seemingly retaliated against Enchong, saying in their Facebook page in a now deleted post: “Ano ang tawag mo sa lalaking nangbubully ng babae? BAKLA o SUPOT?”
Mocha Girls further tried to defend their “Ate Mocha.”
“Ganito po kasi ang nangyari, nagkamali si ate mocha sa fb live niya na sinabi niya na ang mayon volcano ay nasa naga, humingi na sya ng sorry sa pgkakamali nya pero ang mga bashers binully pa rin sya kasama na dyan si enchong. Kaya yan po ang tanong namin,” the girl group posted.
