MANILA, Philippines — Actresses Liza Soberano and Andrea Brillantes might have missed British rock band Coldplay’s concert last Tuesday, but they sure added girl power to American girl group Fifth Harmony’s first Philippine concert last night.

Summer is officially here, as the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration declared early this week. Last night, temperatures in Manila rose as Fifth Harmony sizzled at their Mall of Asia Arena show as part of their “7/27” tour.

The group opened with their empowerment anthem, “That’s My Girl,” a shout-out of the recent celebration of Women’s Month in the Philippines. This was followed by “Miss Movin’ On” and other hits like “Sledgehammer” and “This is How We Roll.”

Their more popular hits among Filipinos, “Worth It” and “Work From Home,” were saved for the latter part of the show.

The group, composed of Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane, Normani Kordei and Lauren Jauregui, wore athletic-chic costumes in Philippine colors red and blue. Their jersey shirts had the word “Pilipinas” boldly imprinted on the front.

A product of “The X Factor US” second season, Fifth Harmony was formed in 2012 originally consisting of Brooke, Jane, Kordei, Jauregui and Camila Cabello. Last year, Cabello left the group to reportedly go solo.

The group has been best known for its hits like “Miss Movin’ On,” whose music video won the group the MTV Video Music Award for Artist to Watch. The team’s debut studio album, “Reflection,” includes the platinum hits “Sledgehammer,” “Worth It” and “Boss.”

“Worth It” reached the triple platinum status in the US and was in the top 10 in 13 countries.

The group’s latest album “7/27” released last year includes “Work from Home,” which has become Fifth Harmony’s first top 10 single on the US Billboard Hot 100 and said to be the first top five by a girl group in a decade on the chart.
