MANILA, Philippines - 2015 is the year when Sweet Plantado, Annie Quintos, Cecile Bautista, OJ Mariano and Moy Ortiz, collectively known as The CompanY, celebrated their 30th anniversary in the entertainment industry.
According to Moy, this major milestone induces them to be reflective on the lessons learned, the people they have met, the places the group has been to and all the good and tough things that have transpired these last three decades. It is by no mere coincidence that Kathleen Dy-Go and Peter Chan of Universal Records Philippines suggested an album that celebrates and indulges in nostalgia.
The timing of the project was impeccable. The backward musical glance was the indirect assessment of The CompanY’s 30-year journey as it presses on with a new singing partner in OJ; and a new record company with Universal Records Philippines.
Nostalgia is The CompanY’s 25th album recently released locally (physical CDs and digital format) and internationally on iTunes under Universal Records. It is a collection of iconic pop classics and standards. The songs conjure both heartwarming and bittersweet memories of days gone by. “These are songs that are part of the collective soundtrack of the who, what, where and why’s of our not too distant past. These are songs that make up a life, ours,” said Moy.
Track list for The CompanY’s Nostalgia includes The Times of Your Life, Up, Up and Away, Never My Love, If All We’re Gonna Do Is Dance, Both Sides Now, Waters of March, Beginnings, Laughter In The Rain, Afternoon Delight and Here and Now featuring former CompanY soloist, Reuben Laurente.
The minus one/accompaniment tracks for all the songs on the new album will also be included in the initial release.
