Fil-Am Amy Vachal enters top 9 of 'The Voice US'
MANILA, Philippines — Filipino-American Amy Vachal made it to the semifinals of "The Voice US."
During the results show on Tuesday (Wednesday morning, Philippine time), the 26-year-old singer was proclaimed safe from elimination, making her part of the show's top nine.
Korin Bukowski from coach Gwen Stefani's team was eliminated from the combination.
On Monday (Tuesday night, Philippine time), Amy wowed the mentors and the audience with her rendition of the N'Sync hit "Bye Bye Bye."
"The Voice US" coaches Gwen Stefani and Adam Levine praised Amy for showcasing her artistry by "flipping" a popular song like "Bye Bye Bye" into her own.
“I was fantasizing about your tour that you can go on after this. You can just take a bunch of top songs, flip them. Everybody wants to see that... You’re set up. You can go on tour. You’re perfect,” Gwen said.
Adam, for his part, said: "With you Amy, we’ve been really able to really maximize that and show people that there are a million different ways a great song can be a great song. And you’re so good at it, the way you sing them and the way you approach them and the way that you come up with them.
"They are infectious and popular and they are also a good display of your artistry," he said. Amy is part of Adam's team.
Next week, five contestants will be eliminated from the competition.
